GAGE: Campbell Scientific electronic datalogger (CR-10) with a temperature thermocouple and a stage potentiometer operated by a servo manometer in a 5' 10" by 4' 8" corrugated metal house. AC power is available to run the equipment, heater. Data from the Cr-10 is stored in a storage module. Reference gage is Type-A wire-weight installed on steel handrail at pier at recorder shelter. U.S.A.E. staff gage also at same location. Elevation, gage datum, of orifice is -2.0 ft., house floor 29.5 ft., and instrum ent shelf about 33.0 ft. Also, U.S. Army Corps. of Engineers Sutron Data Collection Platform (DCP) is operated by the manometer. Operation and maintainence of the DCP is the responsibility of the Rock Island Corps. Prior to Oct. 1, 1960, gages were located 1/4 mile upstream at site of old Wabash Railroad bridge. From Aug. 1988 to Feb. 23 1989 there was two different acoustcal velocity meters in the gage both o f which provided unsatisfactory velocity record.

FLOODS: Maximum stage known, 27.00 ft. (8 a.m. to 12 p.m.), May 26, 1943. Flood of July 27, 1993 reached a stage of 25.95 ft., caused by backwater from the flooding on the Mississippi River. Flood Stage occurs at a stage of 14.0 feet.
