| Hydraulic Characteristics of the Unconsolidated Deposits of the Metro East Area, Illinois | ||||||||||||||||||
| Slug tests have been conducted on the following wells in the Metro East area | ||||||||||||||||||
| to estimate the horizontal hydraulic conductivity of the aquifer or saturated | ||||||||||||||||||
| fine-grained deposits in the vicinity of the open interval of each well. | ||||||||||||||||||
| Tests were conducted using a 10-psi (pound per square inch) rated pressure | ||||||||||||||||||
| transducer, automatic data logger and, a solid core 1.5-inch x 3.5-foot PVC slug. | ||||||||||||||||||
| A minimum of two tests were conducted in each well, consisting of at least | ||||||||||||||||||
| one falling-head and one rising-head test. The estimated hydraulic conductivity | ||||||||||||||||||
| represents the average of all test values at an individual well. Test analyses were | ||||||||||||||||||
| either by the method of Bouwer and Rice (1976) or van der Kamp (1976), as | ||||||||||||||||||
| determined by local aquifer characteristics. | ||||||||||||||||||
