Current data typically are recorded at 5- to 60-minute intervals, stored onsite, and then transmitted to USGS offices every 30 minutes to 4 hours, depending on the data relay technique used. Recording and transmission times may be more frequent during critical events. Data from current sites are relayed to USGS offices via satellite, telephone, radio telemetry, and/or the internet and are available for viewing within minutes of arrival.

Missing values are not included in the precipitation totals; therefore, the totals shown may be less than the actual amounts. Some data collected during cold weather may be affected by snow, and errors in water-equivalent values may result. All real-time data are provisional and subject to revision.

The USGS and other agency rain-gage data are available at USGS Real-Time Water Data for the Nation. The NWS precipitation image overlays shown in the map are provided by the National Weather Service.
