Rainfall Data Available for Du Page County, Illinois and Vicinity
Rainfall data collected from October 1991 through September 1995 by the U.S. Geological Survey and Du Page Department of Environmental Concerns in support of an on-going rainfall-runoff investigation in and near Du Page County, Illinois, are presented in a report recently released by the U.S. Geological Survey. Timothy D. Straub, civil engineer and principal author of the report said, "Changes in the hydrologic environment have resulted in increased stream levels and frequency of floods that damage personal and public property. Hydrologic data, like the rainfall data presented in the report, are needed to aid engineers and planners in solving stormwater-management and engineering problems related to flooding."
This report, titled "Rainfall in and near Du Page County, Illinois, October 1991-September 1995," authored by Timothy D. Straub, Nancy J. Hornewer, and James D. Duncker, has been released as U.S. Geological Survey Open- File Report 97-582. Copies are available for inspection at the U.S. Geological Survey, 221 N. Broadway Ave., Urbana, Illinois.
