WORK EXPERIENCE

HYDROLOGIST for the U.S. Geological Survey, DeKalb IL, December 1986 to present.

• Planned, designed, and conducted hydrogeologic investigations on a regional scale and at individual hazardous-waste disposal sites in a variety of geologic and hydraulic environments including fractured-rock terranes. Duties included planning and conducting aquifer tests and borehole geophysical investigations as well as monitoring-well installation and water-quality sampling. Analyzed and interpreted results of aquifer testing, geophysical logging, water-quality and soil sampling.
• Planned, designed and conducted investigations of hydrology and water quality of lakes in northern Illinois. Duties included monitoring water quality in the lakes, surface-water tributaries, and surrounding ground water. Determined water budget, nutrient budget, and sediment budget for lakes.
• Planned, designed and conducted investigations evaluating ground-water resources in residential-supply aquifers. Duties included monitoring water levels, geophysical logging and aquifer testing. Identified areas of aquifer overutilization.
• Handled administrative duties for the projects including cooperator relations, proposal writing, financial planning, and manpower allocation. Published results of investigations. Supervised work activities of other project personnel.

HYDROLOGY ASSISTANT for the Illinois State Water Survey, Batavia, IL, Summer, 1986. Measured water levels and collected water samples from residential wells. Collected data during aquifer tests.

MASTER'S THESIS RESEARCH at Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, IL, June 1985 to September 1986. Collected and analyzed residential well samples for isotopic composition and major-ion concentrations. Analyzed and interpreted results of sampling to determine the source of high sulfate concentrations in ground water in southern Iowa.

INTERN GEOLOGIST with the Iowa Geological Survey, Iowa City, IA, August 1983 to May 1984. Mapped, described, analyzed, and interpreted geologic deposits. Published results.
